  1. Was this at Hailey Park? They must be at other sites in Cardiff but I've yet to find any!

  2. Hi George
    The pictures were taken on grassland just south of the Melingriffith water pump, so it's either in or very close to Hailey Park. I drove down from Forest farm and selected a suitable area of grassland and started looking - about 1 in every 5 Small Skippers checked was an Essex.
    I think any area of grassland suitable for Small Skippers is worth checking out.

  3. Yes that'll be Hailey Park meadow. I've tried the grassland across the river from there (to the north), and also the grassland above the wood at the canal, both without success - but worth another try.

  4. I saw an Essex Skipper in Cardiff Bay today, in a small patch of scruffy amenity grassland at ST188742.
