I have a willow tree in the garden and have recently noticed that there are things growing on the undersides of a couple of the branches. The first branch is approx 4 inch diameter and the second is approx 1.5-2 inch diameter. No idea what they are, although the white patch looks more lichen-like than fungus. Haven't managed to find anything similar so would appreciate some pointers.
Well I can say that they are resupinate fungi, but I don't know which ones. If you are on facebook, you might be able to post them on the Glamorgan Fungus Group's page (I don't really know all that works), in the hope of an I.D. The only resupinate fungi I am familiar with are the Peniophora Spp and Cobalt Crust, of course.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark.
ReplyDeleteI'm not on Facebook, or any of the other social media things, so the Fungus Group is out. I have looked there and I think they want a lot more info than I would be able to provide.
I googled 'resupinate fungi' and I must have looked at hundreds of images without finding anything that looks like mine ! Oh well, another two for the 'anon fungi' box ...
